Each tablet contains folic acid 5 mg.
Folic acid is a member of the vitamin B group , folic acid is reduced in the body to tetrahedron folat which is a coenzyme for various metabolic processes including the synthesis of purine and pyramiding nucleotides , and thence in the synthesis of DNA , it is also involved in some amino acid conversion .
It is used in the prevention of the foliate deficiency state like
Megaloplastic anemia . -
-Anemia due to malnutrition , malabsorption , blood loss
- Pregnancy, lactation .
- hemolytic anemia such as thalassaemia , sickle-cell Anemia .

Folic acid is generally well tolerated .gastrointestinal disturbances may occur , hypersensitivity reaction have been reported rarely .
Folic acid should never be given alone or in conjunction with inadequate amounts of vitamin b12 for the treatment of megaloplastic anemia.
Anticonvulsant, oral contraceptives, antitvbercvlosis drugs, alcohol reduce the concentration of folic acid.
megaloplastic anemia 15 mg ( 1-3) tablet daily for 4 months .
Prophylactic administration 5 mg daily ( 1 tablet ).
